Hotel reviews
26 August 2009 by AngelinaMy best friend advised me to visit Des Academies et Arts Hotel, because as she said it was a great value for money. When I checked in I understood that she was as always right. The room was convenient and spacious, however the room rate was not too high.
Nearby the hotel was a plenty of different attractions and entertainments, so I visited everything possible. Next time I will stay in this hotel for sure!
23 June 2009 by Mr LewisLast April I with my family decided to visit Paris. Actually we live in Croatia, so as it situated not so far we decided to go there by car. Des Academies Hotel was a perfect accommodation. We stayed in connecting rooms-one for me and my hubby and the other one for our kids. It was very comfortable, because we could check them any time. We enjoyed delicious buffet breakfast. Thanks to the hotel Tour desk that helped us with the useful information concerning the city.

This is not just a place to stay for several nights, this is another world inhabited by strange but nice creatures that were brought out due to the ingenious duet of Jerome Mesnager (painter) and Sophie de Watrigant (sculptor).
Whether you're a real art connoisseur or just admirer, you'll certainly appreciate the atmosphere of the place that reminds of the sensational artists' balls held in the twenties. Exquisite but comfortable interior of the hotel is to the taste of the most demanding guests.

Lolcation
Situated in the very heart of Paris, this is a unique and charming place that drew inspiration and was inspired by famous artists and writers that resided here. If you're interested in arts, you can visit numerous art galleries at the Boulevard Saint Germain; admirers of modern art can go to the Fondation Cartier for Contemporary Art that is situated just a few minutes away from the place. Various restaurants such as Le Dôme, La Coupole and La Closerie des Lilas are situated close at hand. Numerous brasseries of the rue de la Grande Chaumière, the street where Gauguin and Modigliani lived, will help you feel the atmosphere of real Paris. The history of the Hotel des Académies et des Arts started since the early twentieth century. It got its name due to many academies of painting that influenced and keep on influencing the life of the district: the Académie de La Grande Chaumière, Académie Colarossi, Académie Fernand Léger, Académie Lhote, Académie Matisse, Académie Ranson, Académie Russe and the Académie Vassilief.
Rooms
The rooms are spacious and elegant. Each of twenty rooms is decorated with charm and refinement in classic or Art Deco style. They were renovated in 2006 so they are not only elegant and creative but also modern and comfortable. The duet of Jerome Mesnager and the sculptor Sophie de Watrigant did their best to make every room unique. You are free to choose a view from your window. Be it a room overlooking the courtyard where the works of Jérôme Mesnager are represented, or a room facing the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, you won't be disappointed!
Our Favourite Addresses
La Closerie des Lilas
A legendary venue is situated on the Boulevard du Montparnasse. This brasserie has always been famous as the meeting place of the artistic and literary Bohemia of Paris. The interior wins the visitors' favour right after they step over the threshold. A mosaic floor, polished tables, suede chairs and renovated terrace dispose to lengthy talks and pleasurable way of spending time. The cuisine, representing mainly the dishes of traditional cuisine, is beyond all praises. La Closerie des Lilas consists of three zones: the bar, brasserie and the chic restaurant.
La Coupole
This is the most famous Parisian brasseries, which became popular in the Roaring Twenties. The interior is a masterpiece by itself: more than 32 painters including Fernand Léger tried their best to make the place as fascinating as possible. La Coupole is a mythical brasserie where Picasso, Giacometti and Hemingway often came to have their dinner. The specialty of the place is the lamb curry and the quince compote admired by these great personalities. For those who doesn't feel emotional about the past, discothèques with DJs take place every night.
The Fondation Cartier
Admirers of contemporary art will certainly be delighted by the visit to the Foundation Cartier. The place hosts various exhibitions, organizes receptions and different performances (including "Normand" evenings on Thursdays). The Foundation Cartier has a huge collection of contemporary art (works of famous and promising artists) and accommodates events focusing on photography, painting, video and fashion.
Le Bon Marché
This is the oldest department store situated on a left bank. The place was renovated a few years ago and now is a real decoration of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The décor is elegant and smart, the choice of labels is great, the number of services is amazing...that's a real paradise for a shopoholic! For those who prefer food for thought the shop offers a huge range of books and CDs in the basement.

Hotel des Academies introduces a very individual scent Every person has his/ her scent, and so does every hotel. You can sometimes feel the scent of luxury, or the scent of business, or even the scent of art. Hotel des Academies Et des Arts created its own scent that will distinguish it from the other city properties and accentuate its individuality. The scent is called Fashion Wood. This perfume creates the feeling of wildness and naturalness. An unusual combination of tinges it is: the smell of leather and the wood smoke are supplemented by the more sweet and silky iris and musk. Nowhere else will you meet this perfume but at the hotel.

Its tea time! At the Hotel des Academies The boutique Hotel des Academies et des Arts located in the arrondissement 6 in the French capital now offers not only accommodation in its splendid rooms, but also a daily tea service with an unusual name Chez Charlotte. Dont be surprised since that was exactly the name of the cafe next to the hotel which used to be the favourite place for painters.
To try the delicious teas, visit the hotels bistros every day 2.30 - 6 pm. You will face an uneasy choice of more than a dosen of Palais des Thes teas, including Taiwanese smoked tea, The du Tigre or Fleur de Geisha. Another thing that might conquer your heart at the Hotel des Academies is its macaroons by Pierre Herme. The unusual dish is a mixture of such flavours as grilled hazelnut and white truffle, foie gras and wild rose.
